Bruce Goldstein

Bruce A. Goldstein is senior partner with the law firm of Goldstein, Ackerhalt & Pletcher, LLP, in Buffalo, New York.  He holds the degree of Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School (1972), where he graduated cum laude.  He concentrates his practice in the areas of Education Law, Disability Law, Estate Planning, Not-for-Profit Corporation Law, and Health Law.

He is a past instructor (for 19 years) at the State University of New York at Buffalo Faculty of Law and Jurisprudence.  He is also a member of Leadership Buffalo, a member of the New York State Bar Association and a member of several of its committees, a member of the Erie County Bar Association Committee on Disability and the Committee on Health Care Law, and the Western New York Disability Coalition.  Mr. Goldstein is also a recipient of the Erie County Bar Association Special Service award and the Buffalo News Citizen of the Year Award.  He has also been selected for Who's who in America and Who's Who .  Mr. Goldstein is co-author of the treatise Legal Rights of Persons with Disabilities: An Analysis of Federal Law (LRP Publications). He also has been a contributing Attorney for the National Disability Law Reporter (LRP Publications) and member of the Board of Advisors of IEP Team Trainer (LRP Publications).

Bruce Goldstein is a past member of the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council and a former member of its Executive Committee; Past President of the Alexander Graham Bell Association of the Deaf, Inc., and a former member of its Board of Directors and  Executive Committee, and the former Chairperson of the affiliated International Parents Organization; a former member of the New York State Assembly Task Force on the Disabled; a past member of the Boards of Directors of Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center and Jewish Family Services; a former member of the Medical Ethics Review Committee of Children=s Hospital of Buffalo; a former member of the Board of Directors of Heritage Centers (formerly the New York State Association for Retarded Children, Erie County Chapter) and of the affiliated Heritage-Oak Foundation, Inc.; a former advisory member of the Board of Directors of the Developmental Disabilities Prevention Program; a former member of the Erie County Mental Hygiene Community Services Board; a former member of the Board of Directors of Language Development Program Foundation, and a former member of the Board of Directors of Demonstration Employment Project - Training and Housing (DEPTH); a member of the Professional Advisory Board/Committee for Autistic Services, Inc., the Epilepsy Association of Western New York, Parent Network, Self Help for the Hard of Hearing of Western New York, and Center for Hearing Impaired People of Western New York, and a member of the Teratogen Information Service Advisory Panel; past member of the Childrens Programming Advisory Committee for the National Captioning Institute; founder of the Erie Coordinating Council of Handicapped Organizations (ECCHO), and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Western New York Independent Living Center.
