GAP ATTORNEYS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bruce A. Goldstein, senior partner at Goldstein, Ackerhalt & Pletcher, LLP, presented at a recent conference sponsored by the New York State Bar Association focusing on the practice of Special Education Law. Mr. Goldstein's presentation was an advanced session highlighting the recent changes in federal law and regulations. Mr. Goldstein, along with the other attorneys at his law firm, focus on representing people with disabilities and their families, educators, and other service providers.
 Bruce Goldstein and Jay Pletcher were selected by the Buffalo Law Journal for inclusion in their 2006 and 2007 Who's Who in Law publication. They were selected by their peers in the local legal community for their work in the area of education law.
Goldstein, Ackerhalt, & Pletcher, LLP is pleased to announce that David Chadwick has joined our firm starting February 6, 2007. Formerly, Mr. Chadwick worked at Legal Services for the Elderly, Disabled and Disadvantaged of Western New York, Inc., handling all housing related issues of the elderly and disabled. He chaired the Legal and Investigative Subcommittee of the City of Buffalo Mayor's Anti Flipping Task Force. Additionally, he co-chaired the Erie County (New York) Fair Housing Partnership Subcommittee on Predatory Lending. Mr. Chadwick will concentrate his practice and is intricately involved in the areas of special education law (representing families of children with disabilities and school districts) and the rights of persons with disabilities, including guardianships and estate planning.
Bruce A. Goldstein, partner in the firm, recently spoke at the American Speech and Hearing Association Convention held in San Diego, California. Mr. Goldstein’s presentation focused on legal advocacy issues related to children with hearing loss. Mr. Goldstein focuses his practice in the areas of special education law, education law, health care law, not for profit corporation law, estate planning, guardianships, and all other areas associated with representing people with disabilities and their families, educators and service providers.
  Bruce A. Goldstein, Arthur H. Ackerhalt and Jay C. Pletcher recently presented two conferences focusing on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (“IDEA”). The program, presented both in Long Island and Rochester, detailed the recently amended IDEA and corresponding federal and state regulations, and analyzed the procedural and substantive impact both on school districts and parents of children with disabilities receiving special education services.
Arthur H. Ackerhalt, partner in the firm, was the keynote speaker at the Niagara Frontier Center for Independent Living Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet. His presentation was entitled “Americans with Disabilities Act- 15 Years Later.” Arthur Ackerhalt concentrates his practice in providing legal services to persons with disabilities, including special education law, disability discrimination law (including the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act), the National Vaccine Act, guardianships, estate planning and health care law.
